BAS Continues Technical Advisory Role with Connecting Devon and Somerset

BAS is very pleased to announce that we have been trusted to continue our relationship with the Connecting Devon and Somerset Programme (CDS), providing technical advisory services to their rollout of publicly subsidised FTTP broadband.

To date we have successfully worked with CDS and their delivery partners (Openreach and Airband) to deliver over 300,000 connections across a diverse and extensive geography (including two national parks and 14 local authority partners) – CDS being the largest programme of its kind in England.

Our work will cover 6 contracts held by CDS’ three delivery partners (Openreach, Airband and Wessex Internet), and will comprise of the following services:

  • Monitoring and evaluating network installations to insure effective, efficient and economic deployment
  • Certify that services deployed comply with the service requirements including the test strategy, state aid and are NGA compliant
  • Provide technical sign off for phased delivery targets as per the contractual milestone requirements
  • Advise and support change control procedures.
  • Digital mapping and geospatial analysis of delivery partners and commercial coverage plans
  • Carrying out Open Market Reviews (OMRs), engaging with the market to gain insight and understanding of future private sector coverage plans across the region
